Whether you are packing for a weekend escape or refining a long-distance thru-hike setup, G.A.S. helps you decide what comes along and what stays home.

Why I built G.A.S.

Nepal

Six backpacks. Four stoves. Nine titanium spoons. Somehow, there is always room for one more. I was officially diagnosed with Gear Acquisition Syndrome five years ago. To help manage my condition, my psychiatrist recommended that I stop buying gear. Naturally, I ignored this appalling advice and built an app instead—a smarter way to organize my obsession.

Questions hikers ask

Can I bring in an existing gear list?

Yes. Open Settings → Import Gear Lists to see the CSV formats supported by your installed version, then choose Add as New Loadouts to keep your existing gear.

What weight does G.A.S. calculate?

G.A.S. separates packed, worn, and consumable gear so you can see your base weight and understand what is really on your back.

Can I create different loadouts?

Yes. Build separate loadouts for weekends, thru-hikes, seasons, elevations, and changing weather while keeping everything you own organized in one Locker.

Does G.A.S. replace trail judgment?

No. Forecasts and loadout warnings are planning aids. Always check current conditions, official alerts, route information, and your own experience before heading out.
